General

**There are still quite of few drivers who are risking a $15.00 ticket next week. Parking Permits are $10.00 for the year. The application is on the Activities Office counter. Tickets will be issued next week – warnings will not be given.

 

**Attention Girls – Applications are now being accepted for the annual Miss Nipomo contest. A high school student will be crowned at this year’s OctoberFest on October 9. There will also be a Little Miss Nipomo and Junior Miss Nipomo for Elementary and Middle School students. If you are interested in competing, or know someone who might be, flyers are available on the Activities Office counter.

 

 

Clubs and Classes

**Chess Club is now meeting every Monday and Thursday at lunch in room 138. Whether you are a chess master or just want to learn how to play, come to room 138 on Mondays and Thursdays at lunch. See you there.

 

The 1st FFA meeting of the school year is on Wednesday, September 15. This is the famous FFA Pool Party meeting; members attending can receive an FFA point for dressing in Hawaiian attire as well as bringing canned food items to the meeting for an additional FFA point. Everyone who wishes to hang out at the pool MUST first sign in at the Forum before the meeting starts at 5:30pm.

 

**Attention Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors – don’t miss out on weekly lunch drawings, BBQ, Pool Party, and much more. Go get your Renaissance Application available on the table across from the Counseling Secretaries. They are due no later than September 17. You are eligible to apply if you had a 3.0 or higher last semester or if you increased by a .5 from one semester to the next. Freshmen – be ready to apply next semester.

 

Were you at the Cardinal Crew meeting on Tuesday?! If you were, you saw that Crew is going to be the best club on campus! If you weren't there, you have another chance to join. This Tuesday, September 7 at lunch, Cardinal Crew will be meeting on the grassy knoll by room 102 to discuss the upcoming sporting events and rally. If you want to yell, scream and support YOUR NHS TITANS, we'll see you there.

 

*Study Hall starts Tuesday, Sept 7. Study Hall assignments will be posted on the outside windows of the Activities Office and the outside windows of Olympic Hall starting Tuesday morning at 7:00am. All students will need to look at the lists in order to know where to go for Study Hall. Assignments will be listed in alphabetical order by last name.

 

**Congratulations to those of you who earned a 4 or 5 on your English Language Arts STAR test last spring! Bring your score to last year's English teacher to receive a few extra percentage points on your June grade. This opportunity ends on Friday, September 10th. Also, if you had Ms. Dickel last year, please see Ms. Jenssen in room 112.

Seniors / Scholarships

CSU Monterey Bay is having an Open House on Saturday, October 16th. Try CSUMB for a day! See Mrs. Dunahoo for information.

 

 

Sports

*Any boys interested in playing soccer this year that are not currently involved in a fall sport must report to the first fall practice next Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 5:30pm. Practice will be near concession stand south of the stadium end zone. Practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30pm to 6:45-ish pm.

 

**Pre-season Wrestling practice begins on Tuesday, September 7 at 3:30. The sports clearance packet needs to be completed prior to attending workouts. See Coach Gross for more information.
