Dear Dorothea Lange Families,
It is with enthusiasm and gratitude that I begin this school year at Dorothea Lange Elementary School. As some of you know, I was here the day the doors opened at Dorothea Lange in 2006 as a first grade teacher. I taught here for 3 years before taking on the role of principal of Shell Beach Elementary for the past 3 years. It is exciting that my journey has brought me back to Dorothea Lange and I look forward to being here for many years.
We welcome many new staff members to our Lange family this year. We have two new kindergarten teachers; Jorge Licea and Suzanne Sage. Our new first grade teacher is Soledad Magana. In second grade we have Darlene Upham, as a result of Lindie Simone moving up to a third grade position, while Rachel Hess moved up to a fifth grade position. We have two new sixth grade teachers; Kelsey Gragnani and Priscilla Silva. We also welcome Jennifer Diaz as our new Resource Specialist, Cori Meichtry as our new TAP Mentor teacher, and our new librarian is Brenda Hoover.
Enclosed in this student/parent handbook is a treasure of information. Please read through it with your child so that all of us in the Lange community know the expectations, policies and procedures which help our students to be successful. You will find a district calendar, along with a school calendar of important events. Please keep this booklet for reference throughout the year. There are 3 pages that will need to be signed at the end of the handbook and returned to school; “Computer Use Agreement for Grades 4-6”, “Parent/Guardian Computer Use Agreement” and “Notice of Receipt of Parent/Student Handbook”.
I look forward to meeting all of you during the year and working with you over the next several years. Look for the monthly school newsletter for school updates and celebrations.
Sincerely, “Coming together is a beginning. Debbie Schimandle Keeping together is progress. Principal Working together is success.” ~Henry Ford~ |
