5/7/09 League Finals
Boys are League Champs! Girls Take 2nd Place! Congratulations everybody on a great season. We ran our best when it counted. Hugo ran a solid double taking control late in the race and outkicking everybody in the 1600m and 3200m (58 last lap!!!!). Double League Champ! Karlee nursed a healing injury and cruised to 2nd place in the 1600m just qualifying for CIF Prelims. Freshman Natalie Hagler ran a perfect race in the Frosh/Soph Mile dominating the 2nd half of the race and finishing 1st place in a personal best of 5:39. Freshman Garrett Owens ran a dominating race in varsity 800m, but faded the last 100m to get robbed of CIF by place and time. McKenzie Goldman battled it out with Williams from SLO to 2nd place with a personal best and # 8 on the 800m all time list 2:21.65. Josh dominated the frosh/soph 1600m and 800m with diving finishes and ending up double league champ 4:51/2:09. Hannah Stevens raced the big girls in the 3200m and raced very strong in the last 300m to finish 3rd place as a freshman and qualifying to CIF Prelims. Great Job Everyone! We ran awesome. Great Job! We are really starting to race well. Karlee accomplished all 3 school records by breaking the 25 year old 3200m record set by Chantel Plante 10:50 in 1984. Karlee ran 10:48 with a crazy negative split blowing away the field in the last 200m of the invite 3200m (5:32 1st mile, 5:16 2nd mile). She can call herself the greatest AGHS Female Distance runner ever. The boys 4 x1600m relay beat a quality field in the seeded section running very strong in the second half of their race. Way to run and win fellas! McKenzie P.R.'d in the 800m moving her down to 9th on the all time list. She ran strong her 2nd lap and finished hard. Karlee and Hugo ran a very strong 800m after coming back from a double. 4/2/09 SLO Dual meet Yesterday the the boys team beat SLO to remain undefeated and the girls suffered our 1st loss. Our crew ran really well and looked very dominate against SLO. 3/28/09 SLO County Meet
Awesome Day! The Boys team won the County meet by 50 points and the girls lost by 1.5 points. The distance squad continued with a stampede of P.R.'s. Leading the way was Karlee Owens in a fast 1600m 5:02 missing the the school record by 4 seconds and Hugo Gutierrez in the 1600m 4:24 entering the all time list at #8. McKenzie Goldman also made #10 on the 1600m all time list with a 5:22. Our crew looked fast and strong. Keep it up! We are almost half way through the season. 3/26/09 AG vs. Atascadero Dual
What a day! Great Job Distance-Squad! WE got a chance to run on a fast track and took advantage of it with plenty of P.R.'s. Jose Corona had a great day with double P.R.'s 800m 2:13 and 1600m 4:54 showing tons of heart. Karlee blazed a 400m 59.2 moving up to # 4 on the all-time list and pushing freshman Emma W. to a quick time. Hannah Goldman P.R'd by 4 seconds (huge!!!) in the 400m 64.7. Hugo and Katie cruised to a victory in the 1600m and McKenzie pulled out another 2:25 with an easy win in the 800m. Hannah Stevens looked to easy running and winning her first 2 mile 12:21. Royal Twighlight 3/14/09
We continued to get into the groove of racing and we had lots of runners P.R. today. Karlee won the girls 3200m follwoing the plan of going out in 5:30 the first mile and she held on to finish in a P.R. of 11:23. Hannah Stevens had some break out performances in the frosh/soph races winning both the 1600m (5:34) and the 800m (2:36). Hugo placed second and finishing strong in the 1600m in a P.R. of 4:30. Garrett, Hannah G. and Emily were all sprinters today. Hannah G. and Emily battled it out in the 400m with Hannah G winning with the lean at the end. Great Job everyone! Psao Robles Dual Meet 3/12/09
What a Meet! We swept Paso in all of the divisions (J.V. through Varsity). Our track team is very united and it showed yesterday. The distance squad looked great and healthy. The highlight of the meet for the distance squad was McKenzie's performance in the 800m. She ran her heart coming back on Maddi Cline in the last 100m and never giving up head to head with her all the way through the line. That is called heart and that is what I want to teach you guys. McKenzie also made the top 10 list for the 800m knocking off Gwen Miller's 2:25.98 from 2003. We had P.R.'s all around! 3/7/09 Mt. Pleasant Relays
Click on the attachment for the splits! What a Great Season Opener! The Boys highlight of the day was the boys 4 x 800m taking 2nd place with a crew that wasn't 100% healthy. Morgan's 2:03 split was amazing for a guy who just came out from soccer and has only been training for 1.5 weeks. The rest of the crew was strong. I am excited for our 4x800 and 4x 1600 relay in a couple weeks. Cullen had a great P.R. in the 4 x3200m relay 10:08 with even splits! The girls 4x1600m relay warmed up the track with a 2nd place finish and a qualifying time for Arcadia. All the ladies ran great. Karlee opened up the season with a near P.R. 5:06 with even splits. WOW! McKenzie and Katie also opened up with great times 5:30 and 5:32 (P.R. for Katie). The 4x1600m team came back and won the 4 x3200m with Karlee leading the way and winning the race in 11:30 (P.R.)! Great Day Folks! | ||
