This week at Shell Beach Elementary.....

Community Outreach here at Shell Beach Elementary...

The SBE Clothes Drive is off to a great start! We received a wave of clothes for the Children's Resource Network.

So far, the Kindergarten class and the 5th Grade have brought in the most! The class with the most donations of gently used clothes, backpacks and school supplies will Win a Pizza and Ice Cream Party from Doc Burnsteins! Donations accepted until June 3rd. Pizza party June 4th for the winning class! GO SHARKS ~ Kids .. helping kids! Spreading a wave of smiles...

Attention Parents: Please look through the lost and found in the MPR. Clothes items not removed by June 3rd with be donated to needy children on the Central Coast through CRN

(FYI. Donations were already starting to pile up too much by the front gate... boxes are too small. I have moved the donations in bags to the MPR book area. Each class gets a color coded smile sticker on their class T-shirt poster... one sticker for each full box. The class with the most smiles at the end wins!)

The Children's Resource Network is a non-profit organization. Tax ID#27-1473791

Thank you to the Dad's club for putting up the seagull deterant this past weekend. They spent most of the work day laying out the lines to deter the seagulls from dive bombing our kids at lunch. Some kids asked today if we were setting up for a party because there are silver ribbons hanging to scare the birds...We are festive at Shell Beach and trying to keep those lunches safe. Thanks again for all your hard work...

Mark your calendars...

Wednesday May 22nd is a Minimum Day School will be dismissed at 12:15

Thursday May 23rd is your LAST Chance to turn in your GIFT CARD orders before summer. Forms are available in the office. Please make checks out to Shell Beach PTO and return to the office.

Thursday, May 23rd is Open House for Shell Beach Elementary. Bring your family and check out what your child has been working on in their class. This is a great time to check out what they will be doing next year at their grade level and to meet the teachers. The evening starts at 6 pm in the MPR with a Spring Elective showcase and then the classrooms are open to meander around.

Friday, May 24th get your Jamba Juice order forms in (grades 1 ~ 6th). The last Jamba Juice Friday will be on May 31st. This has been such a great fundraiser for our school and has raised over $1500 this year. The kids have really enjoyed getting this healthy treat once a month. Thank you to Leisa Smith for organizing this event all year and we wish you all the best next year at Judkins. Kacey Ingwerson is taking over the Jamba Juice Chair for next year. Thank you Kacey for helping out next year.

BIG THANKS goes out to Kacey Ingwerson for keeping the school informed by updating the Marque out front of the school every month. She has been keeping us informed since late last year and we thank you for taking the time to continue helping us get the word out monthly. Thank you so much for all you do behind the scenes.

Glance ahead to next week...

Friday May 31st the 4th grade is presenting "Geology Rocks". Mr. Sharp's class will perform the play at 9:10 am and then Mrs. Boatenhamer's class will perform at 10:00. All parents are welcome to come and watch this great presentation by our 4th grade kids.

If there is something that we have left out please give us a shout and we will be happy to post the information in our weekly tribune. We have just a few weeks left of school but there is a lot going on in those last few weeks and we don't want to miss a thing.

Have a great week ahead!

PBS American Milestones features The Painted Turtle

Check out this amazing PBS Video featuring our very own, Caleb Todd.

In September 2007, The Painted Turtle established its Outreach Program called The Painted Turtle Outpost, which brings the hopeful, playful spirit of camp to children at hospitals and community events. Now in its 5th year, The Painted Turtle Outpost program continues to thrive and reach children all across California.

Thank you to our incredible Jog-A-Thon Supporters!

We could not have done it without you!
