![]() History Frances Jovan Judkins (1892-1969), was a teacher, superintendent, and Chairman of the County Board of Education during her career in education. Mrs. Judkins' teaching career began in a two-room schoolhouse in Avila. In times of inclement weather, she would hike over the hills to class when the Pismo Creek crossing was flooded. While acting as superintendent of the Pismo School District in the 1950's, Mrs. Judkins oversaw the construction of Pismo Heights School (later renamed Judkins), Grover Beach, and Shell Beach schools.
Mission Judkins Middle School mission, "in partnership with parents and community", is committed to "enable students to become organized, motivated, and responsible learners."
