About the School Board SchoolCenter Picture

The Lucia Mar Unified School District board of education is elected by our community.
The board's primary role is to work with the superintendent to fulfill its major responsibilities which include: 
  1. Setting the direction for the district
  2. Establishing an effective and efficient organizational structure for the district
  3. Providing support to the Superintendent and staff as they carry out the Board's direction
  4. Ensuring accountability to the public for the performance of the district's schools
  5. Providing community leadership and advocacy on behalf of students, the district's educational program, and public education in order to build support within the local community and at the state and national levels 
 
The Governing Board consists of seven members whose terms are staggered.  
 
The current board of education is: 
  • Vicki Meagher (Trustee Area 2, 2016)
  • Dee Santos (Trustee Area 4, 2016)
  • Mark Millis, President (Trustee Area 2, 2014)
  • Vern Dahl (Trustee Area 3, 2014)
  • Don Stewart (Trustee Area 4, 2014)
  • Colleen Martin (Trustee Area 2, 2014)
  • Chad Robertson (Trustee Area 1, 2014)
