Dana Elementary School library is the heart of our learning community where we share a love of reading. Students in Kindergarten through 6th grade enjoy a 30-40 minute library class each week. They are able to discover all of the fascinating genres of literature as well as learn how to navigate their journey with the technology available in the library. We have several literacy activities each year beginning with the Storybook Character Event in October where students become a character from their favorite book, climaxing with the Read Across America celebration in March (one of our student activities was creating a bookmark to reflect how we feel as in My Many Colored Days by Dr Seuss, as seen above), and ending in June with our Summer Reading Book Trade where students are able to get a "new" book for the summer.

We are excited to report that our 2012 Titlewish online fundraiser was a great success! Thanks to your overwhelming support and generosity we raised $1952.50. We have put together our Follett order, and the new non-fiction materials will be available to our students as quickly as possible!
